Accommodation in Thailand - Tips & Advice

Are you interested in accommodation in Thailand? Here are a few tips and advices.

Visa

A Non Immigrant Visa or Double/Triple Entry Tourist Visa is a good option for those who intend to stay in Thailand for longer time or permanently.

Vaccinations

3 injections of Twinrix gives you 20 years of protection against Hepetitous A and at least 5 years of protection against Hepetitous B. Check on your protection against tetanus etc. Talk to your doctor.

Drive Careful

Drive careful! The traffic in Thailand is real intense. Use a helmet for motorcycles and definately don't drive intoxicated.

Alchohol

To limit alchohol consumption is of cource not a bad idea if you like to drink. People that stay in Thailand for a longer period tend to drink more than what is healthy for them.

Work

Obtain a working permit and you will avoid hazzles with the police and immigrations.

Language

At least learn the basics in Thai. There are schools and private teachers that offer language classes in Thai for a very resonable cost.

Protection

Drink a lot of water. You sweat a lot in the tropical climate. You will become tired if you are dehydrated.

Protect yourself from mosquito bites to avoid dengue fever or malaria(still exists at some locations). Watch out for jelly fish that stings and be careful around the coral reefs when you swim. Dress in pants and good shoes while walking in the jungle.

If you get one or more wounds make sure you clean them. A mild soap and a salt solution works best. Use iodine after cleaning. It is easy to get infected wounds in a tropical climate.

Don't sunbathe too much and burn you skin. Use a high factor sunblock in the beginning.

Make sure you have a comprehensive insurance in case you get sick or get in an accident. Medical care is fairly expensive in Thailand.

Make sure you have a good lock and an alarm system if your accommodation in Thailand is a house. Keep cash and valuables in a safe place.
